DONALD LEE SLAMS ANC TOP RANKER AFTER RACIAL SLURS

BY Site Admin

DA MP Donald Lee has labelled racial slurs he said were directed at his party by a high-ranking ANC official in Port Elizabeth over the weekend “unwarranted and uncalled for” .

Lee was in Port Elizabeth for the DA’s education campaign, held at St Thomas High in Gelvandale on March 7th , with DA leader Helen Zille as guest speaker.

Lee accused ANC Secretary-General Gwede Mantashe of saying “the DA is a racist party and it’s for this reason the Coloureds are leaving the party”, when he was interviewed by SABC news.

Mantashe was also in Port Elizabeth on Sunday for the launch of the ANC’s “one million members by 2012” campaign, held at the Nangoza Jebe Hall in New Brighton.

Lee, who is a shadow minister of sport and recreation in the DA-led Western Cape government, said in 2004 “we had 38% vote from PE’s Northern Areas. In last year’s general election we had 70% (plus) votes from the Northern Areas. Coloureds feel at home in the DA”.

Mantashe could not be reached for comment.
